Top Ten Tuesday: Literary Names

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week's theme is fictional characters that we would name our children or pets after.

OK. This one most of you must think what was I thinking.
I was in love with The Hound (Sandor) from GoT. I loved how rough and big, and ugly he was. And his character was awesome. So when I was pregnant with my second child, I was hoping for a boy and I was going to name him Sandor Clegane. But that never happened, I had a daughter :P

Another name I would like for a son would be Dougal, because I am also in love with Dougal Mackenzie from Outlander!

In the Falling Kingdoms books, there are 2 sorceress (I can not remember well I have read the books a long time ago) and I believe they were sisters... maybe. Well their names are Eva and Lucia. My daughter's name is Eva and my niece's name is Lucia  and they are both 3 years old!  My sister lives in another country, she doesn't read and doesn't know about the books. I had named my daughter after another Eva. I thought it was neat that they both had the names from important "characters" from the books I love!

There are just so many characters to chose from! Kaz would be another cool name. I love Kaz Brekker! He is sooo smart, so cool! so calculating.

Also I like Dimka, just Dimka. No Dimitri only Dimka. I don't think I need to explain why. I believe we all love him! haha

I already have a dog named after a Harry Potter character (Bellatrix), but I just re-read all of that Harry Potter books over the last two weeks, and I am so bitter over the fact that Harry named one of his children after Snape. See, Snape in the movies tricked me. He made me forget that Snape in the book is a wholly irredeemable asshat. Even if he did save Harry's life on more than one occasion, he still did everything in his power to make that life miserable. Even the Prince's memories aren't enough to make me forgive Book Snape. Now, movie Snape, I loved. It's impossible not to love Alan Rickman, I think.

But, I digress. Hagrid was the only person to ALWAYS stand by Harry no matter what. He was always there for him when he needed him, he always believed in Harry. That Harry named his children after people who weren't as good to him as Hagrid was always hurts my heart a little for him. So, in his honor, I really hope to have another dog someday and name her Rubeus and call her Ruby for short :)

I have liked this name ever since I read Magonia! Aza Ray is such an awesome name, and I would totally name a pet after her :p

The reason that this post is thrown together so rapidly is because I found a dog wandering in our work parking lot today and spent 2 hours this morning trying to find her owners instead of putting together this post. I mention this because after we checked the microchip, I found out her name was Kalida. And I just kept called her Khaleesi :p I think it would make a good dog name!

I'd like to pretend that this has loftier literary ambitions, a la Streetcar Named Desire. But really, I have always wanted to name a dog after Blanche Devereaux, one of the Golden Girls. Someday!

I was a nanny for a little girl named Emma (Whose father was Ross, and whose mother's middle name was Rachel, btw) and I have always liked that name for a dog. And while I am a huge Friends fan, I think it would be more of a Jane Austen reference than a Friends one :p

  6. I agree with you about Albus Severus's name. He should have been named after Sirius and/or Remus. And Emma, Eva, and Lucia are all lovely girls' names.

  7. Eva and Lucia are pretty and unique, respectively. I also adore Blanche (although this one makes me think of Jane Eyre's mean girl) and Emma (for reasons - Jane Austen!).

Thanks so much for the Finding Wonderland visit!

  9. I like the names Kaz and Eva, though I haven't read the books with their characters hehe.

For me, I like the name Kai (from The Lunar Chronicles). I think it would make a good name for a kid. ;)
